If you have had your eyes on any Chase cards that are limited by the 5/24 rule, check out your accounts online for possible targeted offers. DoC reports that many people are seeing offers for cards like Chase Sapphire Preferred or even Freedom and Freedom Unlimited. These can be found on the left hand menu under the Explore Products section or it might show under your current credit cards as “Selected For You” offers.
Chase won’t approve you for some cards if you’ve applied for more than five new cards in the last two years and the cards mentioned above fall under that 5/24 rule. These “Selected For You” offers usually bypass the 5/24 rule, so it’s a good opportunity to apply and get the bonus for cards that you wouldn’t be able to get otherwise.
But getting past the 5/24 rule is not the only restriction you have to worry about nowadays. You’re allowed only one card per family for every 48 months. So if you have received a bonus on the Chase Sapphire Reserve card within the 48 months for example, you cannot get a bonus for the Chase Sapphire Preferred.
