Data breaches have become common nowadays. Just recently we saw the one at Marriott where half a billion customers were affected. But now we have a new record.
The largest public data breach by volume has been discovered, with 772,904,991 unique emails and 21,222,975 unique passwords exposed. The breach was first reported by Troy Hunt, the security researcher who runs the site Have I Been Pwned (HIBP), where you can check if your email has been compromised in a data breach.
If your information is in there, then change your password right away. Also change passwords for other services if you use the same one in many platforms. Breached username or email/password combos are used to hack into other user accounts.
The data breach could be even worse. Gizmodo reports that this is a single offering from a seller who claims to have at least six more batches of data.
You should used different passwords for different sites and maybe use a password manager to help you remember them all.
